Spring 2017 Mostra

Spring 2017 “Mostra” exhibition included an exhibition of fine art, and also a reading of poetry and prose, at Palazzo Vagnotti in Cortona.

The opening reception was held April 14, 2017, from 5:30-7:00 pm, with performance of creative writing at 6:00 pm and a silent auction to raise funds for the restoration of the church of Santa Maria delle Grazie al Calcinaio in Cortona.

This Mostra showcased the talents of six young writers who were participating in the spring semester’s Creative Writing class, under the guidance of instructor Shamala Gallagher. At the opening reception, they gave readings of their work from Palazzo Vagnotti’s historic theatre stage.

This semester’s silent auction at the Mostra, to raise funds for the restoration of the Santa Maria delle Grazie al Calcinaio church on the hillside below Cortona, was a great success! Visitors purchased works created and donated by students and faculty, both past and current: Megan Duncan, Jason Hartsoe, Charlotte Middleton, Philippa Stannard, Mark Taggart, Benjamin Thrash, and the Summer 2016 Jewelry class. This semester, we sold 13 artworks and raised €315 for the Calcinaio. Thanks to the artists for their donations, and to the patrons for their contributions!
